We’re looking forward to an action-packed week of activities as part of a Primary Open Week, taking place from 24-28 April 2017.
We’re opening our doors to parents and prospective pupils to sample school life as it happens in our Primary Department. Pupils entering Nursery to Year 2 will get to experience daily classes, take part in a variety of fun activities and get a real feel for daily life at our beautiful rural campus.
Sue Worthington, Head Teacher, Ockbrook School Primary Department, says: “Our very first Primary Open Week was highly successful, so we decided to replicate the event again this year.
“Ockbrook School is one of the highest achieving schools in the region. Our open week gives interested parents and prospective pupils the chance to really understand the ethos of our fantastic school. Class sizes are small, which means we can tailor learning to the individual needs of each child.
“We’ve got a fantastic teaching team that prioritises the needs of each and every child. We do this by identifying individual learning strategies and involving parents in our decision making. This makes for a great partnership between staff and parents.”
Activities during Open Week include a variety of sport sessions, such as a cross-country competition and table tennis taster classes, special art sessions as well as den building, fun in the mud kitchen and a barefoot walk, as part of the outdoor exploration activities.
