Students will discover the different types and sizes of business which exist related to several industry sectors in local, national and global contexts. They will recognise the importance of small firms and their potential to grow and become tomorrow’s success stories.

They will have an awareness of the circumstances in which businesses may thrive and in other cases struggle – they will develop a broad awareness of business activities and strategies that may be utilised to bring success. This will involve the study of real-world and current issues affecting firms whilst appreciating how businesses adapt to these.

Business decision making techniques will be practised using a range of quantitative and qualitative methods which enable students to analyse their outcomes.

Students will explore different business functional areas including marketing, finance, people (HR) and operations.
