Writing and drawing workshops from children’s author and illustrator Steve Webb provided the perfect end to our week-long activities celebrating World Book Day.
The meet and greet formed part of an exciting programme of activities for our Primary Department. Steve, the author of popular children’s books ‘Tanka Tanka Skunk’ and ‘Spangles McNasty’, delivered an inspirational workshop to help our students with creative writing, as well as a preview of his new book ‘Cows go BOO!’.
Earlier in the week, students in the Nursery Department through to Year 6 dressed up as book characters and took part in a house reading competition, sharing stories and re-designing their favourite book covers.
Sue Worthington, Head of Primary at Ockbrook School, said: “Fostering a love of reading is vital to children’s educational success and at Ockbrook School we take every opportunity we can to develop and celebrate a love of literature.
“We all thoroughly enjoyed having Steve Webb with us. The value of a meet and greet with an author is priceless and inspirational for all students, wherever they are on their creative writing path.”
