05.10.18 - Former Head Girl Invests in School Speech Day

It was a pleasure to invite former head girl, Jessica Alsford, back to Ockbrook School as guest speaker at our annual Speech Day.

Since leaving us in 1998, Jessica has carved out a successful career in investment banking. She is a Managing Director and Head of Morgan Stanley’s Sustainability Research team and returned to inspire the futures of students.

She says: “Ockbrook School provided me with the strong foundations I needed to succeed so it was such a privilege to return for speech day and meet some former teachers. The school’s students are talented and extremely enthusiastic, with many questions about my line of work; they are sure to excel in whatever careers they decide to follow.”

Headmaster, Tom Brooksby said: “Jessica is a fantastic ambassador for Ockbrook School and remains a familiar face by supporting the pre-university School Outreach programme aimed at females considering a career in investment banking. It was a delight to welcome her as guest of honour to our annual speech day, with students inspired by her succession of personal and career achievements since leaving us in 1998.”

Jessica left Ockbrook School with triumphant A Level results in English Literature (A), History (A) and French (A). She holds an MA in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge and is a CFA charterholder. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2005; in 2015-2018 the Sustainability Research team was ranked top 3 in the Extel survey.
